FINTRAC Report

FINTRAC is Canada's most powerful and most underused fraud reporting tool. Unlike the CAFC (which logs complaints) or the BBB (which publishes them), FINTRAC has the authority to freeze accounts, compel banks to report, and refer cases to the RCMP for prosecution. A Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) filed about account 578360139610 could trigger a federal investigation. Every victim who reports strengthens the case.
What FINTRAC Does

The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) is Canada's financial intelligence unit. It collects and analyzes financial transaction data to detect money laundering, terrorist financing, and serious fraud. When FINTRAC identifies a pattern of suspicious transactions, it produces financial intelligence reports that it shares with law enforcement — including the RCMP, CBSA, CRA, and CSIS. FINTRAC does not investigate individual complaints directly, but it can compel Scotiabank to file a Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) if enough evidence of fraudulent transaction patterns is presented.
